Where do the proceeds go?

Here is an exciting fact: Mead’s Corner is a non-profit! Every single cup of coffee, bowl of gelato, or delicious panini sandwich helps others. Our vision from the very beginning is to offer superior quality coffees and food items, cover our cost, and give the rest away. Right now 10% of our proceeds go directly to charitable causes (not to mention the cool decorated donation cup by the cash register). 100% of proceeds is within our grasp!

Currently, our featured charities are the Park Elementary School here in Wichita and an orphanage in Yangon, Burma operated by World Vision.

Park Elementary School is a lower income elementary school located at 1025 N. Main. We help supply the students with school supplies and athletic equipment. Many of these kids would be at a disadvantage simply because their families couldn’t afford school supplies or soccer cleats. Occasionally the students and teachers come and visit us. It makes it all worthwhile knowing that Mead’s Corner is helping them to receive an education.

Burma was ravaged by a Tsunami in December of 2006. This tsunami created a multitude of orphans. World Vision helped open an orphanage in Yangon, Burma. Our proceeds help with operating and food cost for this orphanage.

We hope that our charities change and evolve with our community, our customers. Each year we will be holding a mock election to determine which charities we will be supporting. Stay tuned on how you can communicate your charity of choice!
